Avery Berkel’s M series retail scales can now integrate with Sage Line 50 software to provide complete invoicing and stock control for independent retailers. A new software module called MX-SL links the company’s MX400 scale management software with the Sage package to improve the speed and efficiency of accounts administration and maintain optimum inventory levels.
The development will be particularly useful for independent retailers already using Sage as an accountancy package. It will enable them to track and manage the entire transaction process and avoid error due to double entry between two different systems.
The software allows trade and retail sales from the counter scales to be transferred to the Sage Line 50 package. This allows the system to generate invoices and statements for trade accounts automatically. Additionally, stock level accuracy is maintained allowing sales orders to be generated for suppliers.
Furthermore, the Sage sales ledgers can use the data to produce as much or as little information as the retailer needs. This may include sales and profit margin reports by product, product type, supplier or customer, or a top ten selling list.

The MX400 software from Avery Berkel is a central product and price management system for a store’s scale networks and printers. It allows fast and easy updating of product information and prices, including special promotions. The software also provides extensive ingredient, nutritional and allergen management, label design, traceability reporting and full historic reporting of counter operations.
Using MX-SL, data can be exchanged between MX400 and Sage line 50 to ease configuration. Once it is set up, data between the two systems will synchronise automatically.
